Ad Network

A cluster of websites and digital platforms that can host ads. Google currently has two ad networks – Search and Display. Adsense – Google: Adsense is a Google platform that allows websites to earn by hosting or publishing Google Network ads.

Adwords for Google

Adwords is the primary platform for pay per click advertisement. It is a  Google owned program that is used by advertisers to place ads on Google search results pages, on YouTube, and on Google ad network sites.

Processes or set rules through which computers can perform a task are known as algorithms. In digital marketing, algorithms usually refer to the sets of processes Google uses to order and rank websites in search results.

Algorithm Update

Any change that is made to an existing Google algorithm can be termed as an algorithm update. These updates affect the rankings of websites. 

Alt Text or Alternative Text

Alt Text is an HTML code that describes the appearance and function of an image on a webpage. This helps with web accessibility as search engine crawlers can index an image better with the help of Alt Text. 

Analytics – Google

A Google platform that allows for the efficient collection of statistics and data of website visitors. Visitors can be mapped in context to where they come from and how they behave with the help of Google Analytics.

Anchor text

The clickable words in a hyperlink. In SEO, anchor text is a ranking signal to Google, as it provides context about the destination site.

Automation

The use of computer-generated programs to complete tasks which would normally require human intervention is known as the process of automation. 

Average Position

Google Adwords have a metric that help marketers gauge, on average, at which position are their ads being shown on a Google results page. Generally, there are 4 available ranking slots at the top of a search result page and ideally that is where marketers want their ads to rank, instead of the bottom ranking slots.
